Who is behind Arca-Net?
Arca-Net is created and run by the European SAVE-Foundation (Safeguard for Agricultural Varieties in Europe).
SAVE is a pan-European umbrella organisation with the purpose of networking organisations that strive to halt and reverse the trend of genetic erosion of biodiversity in agriculture. SAVE works with a wide range of local stakeholders to characterise and monitor threatened diversity and to increase capacities, promote in-situ/on-farm conservation and to provide knowledge, information and practical support.
SAVE acts as a representative of NGOs and farmers/breeders since 1993 and strives to ensure that their voice is heard and their needs for grassroots development are met. SAVE Foundation stands for the safeguarding of agrobiodiversity, within unique human systems throughout Europe. An inextricable link lies between human culture, nature and biodiversity in agriculture. This is taken into account in all conservation activities.
