Razza: Asino andaluso

Specie: Asino

Descrizione: Andalusian giant donkeys are an old, local breed of donkey. In the past the animals of this breed were exported to various countries and overseas. The origin of the breed could be traced back to the Egyptian donkey. Since the donkeys are hardly used for work anymore, their number has drastically decreased. There are only a few hundred purebred specimens left.

Distribuzione: Andalusian giant donkeys have become very rare. They belong to the endangered domestic animal breeds.

Storia: Probably the Moors brought the ancestor from Africa to Spain. His relationship to the Egyptian giant donkey seems obvious, but is not scientifically proven. It seems obvious that Asian donkeys came to Africa via the Silk Road.
